Seed Box funding granted to two projects at Gothenburg University

News: Nov 06, 2017

Anna Bohlin received SEK 400 000 for the project ”Living (with) things: Consuming, collecting and caring”, about every day consumption and its role in environmental degradation and climate change.

Christian Isendahl’s project ”The Resilience of Cuban Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture over the Longue Durée (CUPAL)” received SEK 355 000.

Commenting on the news, Bohlin said “Most gratifying is that [our project] allows for collaboration with the World Culture Museum, where we can explore ways to reach research results that go beyond the traditional academic forms".

”Living (with) things: Consuming, collecting, and caring” is a pilot project which will feed directly into the design of a planned 3-year-exhibition at the National Museums of World Culture in Gothenburg and Stockholm, to open in 2019. The overall aim of the exhibition is to rouse motivation and passion for sustainable consumption and lifestyles through multi-sensory interactive design that speaks to body and emotions as much as the intellect. It also addresses the topic of how we relate to, value, collect, and discard everyday objects.

Anna Bohlin is currently involved in the project ”Re:heritage. Circulation and marketization of things with history” financed by the Swedish Research Council.

”In our ongoing project, we see how people relate to things that go beyond language, and it is extremely exciting to collaborate with museum educators and exhibitors who are used to working not only with the cognitive, but also with the senses, feelings and bodies. This collaboration will also generate new ways of producing knowledge together with the museum's visitors, and this will be an important base in future research applications”said Anna Bohlin.

Congratulations to both Anna and Christian and we look forward to hearing more about these two fascinating projects in the future.
